What do state-owned development financial institutions (SODFIs) in South Africa do?

This study explores the model of state-owned development financial institutions (SODFIs) in South Africa and how African SODFIs contribute to national, continental, international developmental agendas by providing necessary support towards financing domestic projects, thereby mitigating seven categories market failures. It analyses relevant documents latest annual/integrated reports SODFIs, making it possible highlight their modus operandi instruments employed fulfilling mandates. Analyses indicate that although mitigate failures adequately contributing global agendas, they do not fund enterprises (SOEs), leaving out an important aspect public socioeconomic cooperation. thus highlights importance funding SOEs partly through rather than directly from national budget discusses implications for theory practice.
